With the demise of the Auckland Pirates at the end of a champion season James Blond Ltd have renewed their commitment to New Zealand and Auckland basketball by becoming the naming rights sponsor of the Super City Rangers.
The Rangers are based out of Waitakere and this is a perfect fit for James Blond with our premesis only a few kilometres from the home stadium. With a young team in 2013 it will be difficult to repeat the feats of the Auckland Pirates but at least there is an Auckland team in the NBL! On Sunday 27/05/2012 the James Blond Auckland Pirates won the 2012 New Zealand NBL, in only their second year in the championship and under new coach Judd Flavell the Pirates put it all together when it counted defeating Wellington Saints in the final.
